'Light to freedom'

~ 10 fleeting minutes that connect a surfer and photographer ~

(Pictured Above)

As fishermen untangle their nets, their weathered hands move with a rhythm older than memory. The smell of wood smoke rises from burning coconut husks and cooking fires, weaving through the salty air. Storms all day, and then—for ten fleeting minutes—the world lit up in perfect alignment.

Fisherman paused, nets glistening in the sudden glow. A glistening moment of freedom. Freedom from the rush of modern noise. Freedom to live close to the land and sea. Freedom found in community, in simplicity, in the rhythm of tide, time and the sea.

Through the lens, it felt like the Earth exhaled - reminding me that freedom isn't always found in endless sunshine, but in those rare fleeting moments when chaos gives way to light. A reminder that sometimes, in the most remote corners of the world, the truest sense of freedom is revealed in these moments.

'FRONT ROW TO THE DREAM'

~ A Moment in Time ~

(Pictured Below)

Front row to the dream — tucked away in remote North Sumatra, we woke and putted out to a lineup that felt like it had been waiting just for us. Perfect lines wrapped the reef, clean, glassy and picturesque, and not another soul in sight, each set arriving with a rhythm that made time feel slower. Out there, with the hum of the tropics behind and nothing but ocean ahead, it was one of those days you know will sit in memory forever — a reminder of why we chase waves to the edges of the map.

'through the desert'

~ Time for a break ~

(Pictured Below)

Travelling through the vast, remote stretches of Western Australia, after hours of driving I finally pulled over at the next truck stop, the old rusty Troopy grinding to a halt on the hot, sizzling road. I tore open some Vegemite and smeared it on a few slices of white bread, the familiar salty taste grounding me in the middle of nowhere. Stretched my legs, feeling the heat radiate up from the asphalt and the open landscape breathe around me. For a moment, time slowed — the road, the sun, the endless horizon — and I could simply exist between the journey and the next adventure.

'roads less crowded'

~ Trust your instincts ~

(Pictured Below)

While most of the crew flocked to a crowded wave around the corner with 3ft sets max, I followed my gut to a wave I’d studied on the Island. After a jungle drive in a rusty Toyota, I arrived to find 8–10ft caverns reeling down the point — heavy, flawless, and completely empty. Too technical and risky to surf alone, I spent three hours shooting the lineup without another soul in sight, losing my mind at what I was witnessing. It wasn’t a secret spot, but that day it felt like one, and this frame remains one of my favourite reminders that the best rewards come when you trust your instinct and take the road less crowded.
